Crappy Shacks of “The Canyon”

There’s a stretch of Intracoastal Waterway between Jupiter and Fort Lauderdale known among boaters as “The Canyon”. It’s a walled canal where the wakes of passing power boats reverberate/reflect to make for an uncomfortable ride for slow-pokes like the average sailboat. Bill the Kentucky Toxicologist warned us against attempting it on a weekend or holiday, so I’m pretty sure we did it on a Thursday (don’t have the log with me to confirm).

Here are a few shacks we passed along the way.

    Hi to you both,
I am reading your last note and viewing the SHACKS as I look out our window and watching the soft snow fall. Asking myself where would I rather be?
I honestly think I would rather be here in our humble suroundings.
Hope and pray that the weather will co-operate for your crossing over to the Bahamas.
The kids are looking forward to the 21st.
Love and prayers for a safe journey. Mom

We saw “shacks” like those in Ft. Lauderdale. I think your Mom has it right.
