The Magical Beast

We were at Big Major’s Spot, Exuma yesterday, so we thought we’d visit the swimming pigs of Pig Beach. The story is that years ago, a local left his pigs on this island, and over the years, visiting cruisers would feed them scraps and leftovers. Now, they’re a tourist attraction and the sound of an approaching boat is enough to draw them out of the brush and down the beach.

They’re probably the best fed pigs we’ve ever seen.

A friend back home describes pigs as “…the magical beast – you feed them apples and they make you bacon!”. We didn’t want to part with any of our apples, but celery probably turns into bacon just the same…
