Looks Like We’re Up For the Day

It’s been a while since either of us has slept twelve hours straight, but that’s what we did last night. It was barely dark outside, and we conked right out.

We have a lot to tell you about our big ocean passage(s) from Staniel Cay to Mayaguana to Turks & Caicos, but it will have to wait, ’cause today is going to be a total fun day. No boat chores, no cleaning, no laundry – even though we’re in fairly dire need of all of the above.

Today is Phill’s 41st birthday, and we have lots to celebrate! After all the sailing he’s been doing, he’s a pretty salty old dog for such a young guy.

And, family is arriving this afternoon to spend the holidays in Grace Bay, just down the road from Turtle Cove Marina! Needless to say, we’re really excited to see them.

So we’ll catch up sometime this weekend – hope you enjoy yours as much as we’re going to enjoy ours.

Happy 41st B-day Phil . . . enjoy!!! We’ve been hit with a freezing rain/blowing snow. Very wet and heavy. Although, TGIF . . . and David is off for Christmas vacation. Yippee!!! My Christmas present are new X-country boots/skies. I’ve had my wooden ones since I was 20 yrs. young. Looking forward to skiing with wax-less skies. Merry Christmas and have a great time with your family who are visiting.

HAPPY 41st BIRTHDAY PHILLY! So wish we there to celebrate with both of you. What a great place to celebrate a birthday! Congrats also on reaching T&C! Way to go! Can’t wait to hear more about it. All is well here in Ottawa. We definitely will have the white Christmas I wished for. Apparently I sang “Let is Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow” a few too many times though because we got one hell of a dump!!! Oh well the kids are thrilled and Santa can use his sleigh for sure now. Enjoy your time with your family Phil and Merry Christmas to both of you. Give us a call as soon as you can. We miss you sooooooo much!!!!

Merci Julie! And late Christmas wishes to you too. We enjoyed our time with the family – it was so great to be in such a faraway place, and yet not be alone for the holidays. Wouldn’t change a thing.

      Hope you’re enjoying your holidays!

      Maryl & Phil

  13. Chris Crummer says:

  14. Claire and Derek says:

    Hey guys,

We just want to wish you a late Merry Christmas!!! And happy belated birthday to Phil.

We’ll be going to Puerto Plata, Dominic Republic from Jan. 7th to the 14th…will you guys be there? ^_^

Take care and all the best!!!

    • Maryl says:

Hi Claire & Derek! So happy to hear from you! Merry Christmas to you too, and happy New Year!

We’re just in the process of deciding if we go south from here, or turn around and explore the Bahamas some more. We’re pretty sure we’re going south, which means next stop Dominican Republic, very possibly when you’re going to be there. We’re probably going to go to Luperon, which isn’t far from Puerto Plata.

      We’ll keep you posted!

    • Maryl says:

      Hi Claire & Derek,
I think you’re in Day 2 of your holiday – hope you’re enjoying it! We were thinking & hoping that we’d be able to meet you in the DR before the 14th, but the weather is not co-operating. The weather service we subscribe to basically said don’t go anywhere unless you want the snot knocked out of you, and we don’t want that, so we’re staying put. As of today, it looks like the earliest we can leave is next week sometime. If we miss you – which looks most likely at this point – have a great vacation!

Happiness at Christmas and New Year’s, Maryl and Phil. To see what you’re missing, weather-wise, you can check the views from the Collins Bay security cameras, which are alive and well, even mid-winter !

    Loved the Turks flag!

    All the best,

    Jacquie and Peter
