A Long Goodbye

We were hoping to have left The Bahamas for the US by now, but the weather isn’t co-operating.

Our plan is to leave from our current location in in The Abacos and head straight for North Carolina (probably the Cape Fear/Beaufort area), which will be at least a four day trip for us, but the forecast for the last week or so has been for not enough wind, and then too much.

In the meantime, we’re enjoying our long goodbye to The Bahamas toodling around the beautiful Sea of Abaco.

A window may open up by Sunday the 9th…we’ll keep you posted.

Laundry Day in Spanish Wells

We’re in Spanish Wells, St. George’s Cay, Bahamas. It’s like nowhere we’ve been before.

People drive golf carts here, and we’ve used the enormous mountain of laundry we need to transport to and from the town’s sole washer and dryer for use by transient cruisers (which is several blocks away from the waterfront) as an excuse to rent one.

We also rectified our propane problem with it, so forty bucks pretty well spent.

And it’s kinda fun driving around town in a golf cart.

Just Add Water…

We were out of propane and low on food the other day (no luck fishing), so Phill digs out this scary torch* and I dig out the freeze-dried backup-to-the-backup food.

The scary torch has also heated the water for coffee the last three mornings (hats off to Phill who managed to boil the water and not burn himself with that thing, (all three times, before ingesting any caffeine)….nothin’s easy.

* Phill tells me the scary torch is fueled by “map gas”
