Boarded!

We were just boarded by the U.S. Coast Guard in the Savannah River! It was the most exciting thing that’s happened to us in a while, so we thought we’d share it with you right away.

They reviewed all our safety equipment and boat systems, and after finding everything in order (phew!), they completed the necessary paperwork.

Officer Meyer and his crew wished us a safe trip and let us go on our way.

That is exciting. The Coast Guard in the first photo standing in front of the twin Honda outboards is posing for you guys. Is he Officer Myer? Now we know for sure you are sailing safe.

Glad to see you both are safe and adventuring, I spoke to Monica , she sounds good. I can’t wait for you to complete the ” about” section. I just returned from Newfoundland on the motorcycle, great weather for september and good cod fishing.. maybe you can do a circumnavigation of Newfoundland next trip! Safe sailing, Doug Hardy

    Hey Phil (and Maryl),
Hate to take your mind off your marine excursion but it’s October and my furnace will need some servicing. . . It’s Paul. . .Paul Dehler. . .from Morley Boulevard. . .in Ottawa of course. Just wondering if I can schedule a time? Not till October 2013???? Wow! You wouldn’t think furnace repair would be in such high demand in South Carolina. The things you learn. . .
In any case, glad to see you managed to impress the authorities (Officer Meyer or Oscar for those who know him intimately). My wife Carol and I weren’t quite as impressive during our New York adventure (Maryl you’ll have to ask Phil for details). Enjoying your adventure and await further updates. Cheers!

Maryl & Phill: Have you been following Jack & Donna’s blog http://www.sailblogs.com/member/kathrian/ They lived in our condo area (Newport Cove across from Andrew Hayden Park), were members of the NSC, sold everything and are now sailing for whatever length of time. It would be great for you guys to meet up to discuss your journeys and photos. Safe sailing . . .

Hi Pat & David – we have been following Jack & Donna. Sounds like they rode out Sandy in Charleston, which is a great place to be stuck for weather!
